Flagstone Patio Concrete Base Installation!

Saturday, November 12th, 2011

Before I get any funny comments – Correction in Narration: 1.10 mins – “…wet in other spots because it wasn’t getting enough water”. I meant to say that “because there were dry spots, we were irrigating more, causing the grass to get too wet in places, accentuating the problem.”
The rest of the video explains what we are doing. There were no major issues here and the pour went well. I will follow up to show you what the patio looks like now.
Enjoy!

Decomposed Granite Sealant?

Monday, October 17th, 2011

I recently had a decomposed granite/flagstone patio installed. Unsure if the the DG had stabilizer added to it prior to installation. Is there a sealant I can add to the DG as well as the flagstone? I want my flagstone to look nice and my DG to stay in place, that is the goal.

Once DG is installed it helps if you water it down to allow it to settle into place and sort of lock the pieces together. It shouldn’t need anything else. For flagstone you can use a sealant like MarbleLife sealant.
Stone Sealer 16oz — $19.95 — MARBLELIFE Stone Sealer MARBLELIFE Stone Sealer is easy to use and provides lasting resistance to staining from oil, water and food without altering the color, texture and breathability of your stone. Recommended application is every 2-years for normal residential use.DIRECTIONS: Make sure surface is free from other coatings. Clean surface with MARBLELIFE Intercare Cleaner and allow to dry. Test in small area to ensure desired results. Pour Stone Sealer onto surface and spread with a cloth creating an even layer. Allow to set for 10-15 minutes, then Wipe excess Sealer off with clean, dry cloth until no MARBLELIFE Stone Sealer is visible on the surface. Buff with dry cloth to prevent streaking. If excess Sealer has dried onto the surface, re-apply Sealer to remove excess and buff dry with a separate clean dry cloth.
